Using the Xecuter X360USB with connectivity kit V2 to flash hitachi drive

I received my X360USB with connectivity kit v2 and easily flashed my Hitachi 47dj drive. However finding information on the X360USB and xecuter connectivity kit v2 is limited so i though id explain how i flashed my drive.

First of all get the firmware you want to use (i got mine from xbins on IRC ). I decided to use the OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1 as this is recommeneded from most sites and is great if you have a pioneer dvd burner.

Unzip the OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1 rar file on to your pc which will give you a folder called OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1. There is a folder inside this called X-LG copy the X-LG folder to the root of your C drive and rename to LG.

Next get your x360usb and connectivity kit v2 (the smaller of the 2 pieces the bigger one is for connecting your 360 hadrdrive) ready and shut down your pc. Plug the x360usb into a spare usb slot, completely remove you hitachi cdrom drive and connect the sata cable to your hitachi drive (this kit only works with the hitachi drives). Plug a spare molex connector from your pc into the connectivity kit and then plug the little power cable supplied into your connectivity kit and your hitachi drive (dont force these cables in, there are ridges and slots on the connectors on the cable that line up with the connectors on the board and your drive) Make sure the switch on the kit is set to the off position, there is also a little switch on the kit by the led's and the small power connector. I didnt touch this and left it as it was when i received it (over to the right near the 2 solder points at back of switch) if anyone does know what this does please let me know.

Now turn your pc back on. Windows will now find the X360USB and say that hardware is installed and ready to use. when this is done turn the switch to on on your connectivity kit and you should have some nice blue led's light up on the kit.

At this point my drive was not recognised in windows so press the mode swith and the leds should go red (Mode B). Again my drive was still not found so i then turned the connectivity kit switch back to the off position and then turned the switch back on and the lights where still red which means your drive is in mode B, at this point i got a message at bottom right saying new hardware found and showed the hitachi drive name and then that hardware was installed and ready to use.

when this was complete i went to my computer and checked what drive letter had been assigned to the hitachi drive in my case it was H.

Now go to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, and select Command prompt.

A black box will open and should show something similar to c:\documents and settings\ blah blah>

Now type in cd.. and press enter do this again until just C:\> is visible. now type CD LG and press enter this will take you into the folder that the firmware is in and should show C:\LG> if you want to make sure type DIR and will list the files that are in the folder you should see FLASH21.BAT in there, if so your in the right folder.

Now type the following - FLASH21.BAT H 1234

(THE H SHOWN HERE IS THE DRIVE LETTER THAT WINDOWS ASSIGNED TO YOUR HITACHI DRIVE IF YOURS IS NOT H THEN REPLACE IT WITH WHATEVER LETTER WINDOWS ASSIGNED TO IT)

The last 4 numbers can be any combination you want.

It will now back up your drive key and firmware before it starts flashing the drive. When it has finished it will say done 100% you may now shutdown the system. If it says failed dont worry it will reflash again until it is 100% verified do not touch anything until it says that you may now shutdown the system.

Now go into the LG folder on your C drive and you should have a folder there called X21-xxxx.OPA (xxxx will be whatever 4 numbers you used) copy this and paste to at least 2 other different folders and burn to a disc to make sure it is safe as this contains your original firmware e.t.c

Now turn off the 360 connectivity kit and shut down your pc and disconnect the drive from the x360usb sata and disconnect the connectivity kit from the pc molex connector and the hitachi drive.

You now have 1 flashed drive. reconnect back to your 360 and put in a backup and away you go.

Please note this is how i flashed my drive with no problems at all. I take no responsibility for anyone bricking their drives whilst following this tutorial

Happy flashing
